Director
Lorraine is a Chartered Legal Executive Advocate and Director of the firm.
She specialises in Family Law and qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1998. Lorraine qualified as one of the first 25 Legal Executive Advocates in the country within the field of family law. She became a Partner in the firm in January 2012 and is a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel.
Lorraine has had considerable experience advising and representing clients in all types of cases which fall within the area of family law.
Family law includes many different areas and Lorraine has represented many clients over the years in cases involving:
- Private law children act proceedings where there are issues as to where children live and how often they see each of their parents.
- Public law proceedings where the Local Authority are applying for care or supervision orders
- Adoption proceedings
- Divorce and separation proceedings
- Financial disputes arising from the breakdown of a relationship or marriage
- Disputes between unmarried couples concerning money or children
- Representing and advising grandparents
The experience that Lorraine brings to the firm is an ability to represent clients of all ages in different courts not only geographically but in the different levels of court to include advising in cases in the Court of Appeal.
As a firm, we are different from many others in so far as we undertake much of our own advocacy. It is important for us to provide a client with continuity in court as well as advising and assisting within the office. Lorraine undertakes the vast majority of her own advocacy regularly appearing in court representing clients, to include lengthy contested hearings.
Lorraine enjoys and is actively involved in the business development of the firm.
‘My job is one which is challenging and no two days are ever the same. However, the rewards speak for themselves and I and the practice prides itself on the positive feedback which we receive from our clients.’
Client Feedback
For the first time in the whole of my legal process I felt that someone had listened and understood, that person was Lorraine.
I have had support throughout the whole case from Lorraine. It’s not like just going to see a lawyer because of the support I have. It’s been more like talking to a friend. Lorraine has always made the court procedure clear to me which has meant I have found a difficult and emotional process easier to deal with.
